In 2011, a work was made in order to answer a very simple question: is possible to translate networks into equations of joined and superposed singleton graphs? The answer was the work published as a preprint entitled Link Algebra: a new approach to graph theory, which was more that an algebraic structure attempt: was the first algebraic structure defined to actually construct graphs from its singleton core.
